THE NATIONAL 2017: WEBSITE GOES LIVES

'The National' 2017 has launched its website dedicated to its upcoming triennial exhibition, profiling the artists featured including Khadim Ali, Richard Bell, Gordon Bennett, Dale Harding, Gordon Hookey, Tom Nicholson, Raquel Ormella, Khaled Sabsabi, and Jemima Wyman. The site also includes essays by the exhibition curators providing an introduction to the exhibition concept.

Minority/Majority - Khaled Sabsabi at Fairfield City Museum and Gallery

Khaled Sabsabi's 'Minority/Majority' is now open at Fairfield City Museum and Gallery. The exhibition features works that explore the psyche of sports in Western Sydney, the similarity of board games over differing cultures and the grief of forced migration and memories of war.

 In 2017 the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Carriageworks and Museum of Contemporary Art will present The National: New Australian Art. The National will showcase contemporary Australian art and includes new work by Khadim Ali, Gordon Bennett, Richard Bell, Dale Harding, Gordon Hookey, Tom Nicholson, Raquel Ormella, Khaled Sabsabi and Jemima Wyman. The National opens 30 March 2017.

KHALED SABSABI: Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2016

Khaled Sabsabi's work features as part of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2016. Kochi-Muziris is the largest contemporary art Biennial in South Asia. The 2016 edition is  curated by Sudarshan Shetty. Titled 'Forming in the pupil of an eye', Shetty's curatorial vision draws from mythical references to India as the "land of seven rivers". Opening 12th December 2016 the exhibition will run until 29 March 2017.

KHALED SABSABI: IT'S OUR THING, BLACKTOWN ARTS CENTRE

Khaled Sabsabi's work features as part of a two-person exhibition at Blacktown Arts Centre co-curated by Kon Gouriotis and Paul Howard. 'It's Our Thing' revisits the emergence of this dynamic sub-culture and examines how the collaborative practices and styles of hip-hop culture have influenced the work of contemporary artists. A closing event will take place on 6 August 2016.

Work by Gordon Bennett and Khaled Sabsabi features as part of the first Yinchuan Biennale, opening at the Museum of Contemporary Art Yinchuan on 9 September. Curated by Bose Krishnamachari, the Biennale will included 74 artists from 33 countries and is structured by the theme 'For an Image, Faster Than Light'. The Biennale runs until 18 December. KHALED SABSABI: YINCHUAN BIENNALE, YINCHUAN CITY, CHINA

Khaled Sabsabi has been selected to exhibit in the 1st Yinchuan Biennale, curated by Bose Krishnamachari, co-founder and previous curator of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. Opening September 9, the exhibition will occupy the main spaces of the Museum of Contemporary Art Yinchuan (MOCA Yinchuan) and is titled 'For an Image, Faster than Light'.

KHALED SABSABI: AWARDED inaugural Western Sydney Arts Fellowship

Khaled Sabsabi is the recipient of the NSW Government's inaugural Western Sydney Arts Fellowship in recognition for his efforts to develop Western Sydney's arts and cultural sector. Khaled has had a considerable impact on the local community through his involvement in initiating a number of local projects and mentoring artists. This fellowship will allow him to create new work, establish an archive of his practice and publish a digital monograph.

'do itبالعربي' opens at Bait Al Shamsi, Sharjah this Saturday 23 Janurary, running until the 23 April 2016. The exhibition is the latest iteration of the ongoing do it publication and exhibition project, originally founded and curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist in 1993. The exhibition and new publication features artist instructions from over sixty artists around the world, including Khaled Sabsabi.

KHALED SABSABI: APT8 CINEMA: POP ISLAM, QAGOMA

Khaled Sabasbi is the co-curator of Pop Islam, a cinema project presented as part of 'The 8th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art'. Pop Islam considers representations of Islam in contemporary film, documentary and video art. Khaled Sabsabi and his 2014 work 70,000 Veils have been selected as part of the sixth Experimenta Biennial, opening 28 November at RMIT Gallery Melbourne. Sabsabi's work 70,000 Veils is a 100 channel digital video installation which utilises 3D technology to visualise an archive of tens of thousands of images individually captured by Sabsabi.

70,000 Veils, a new work by Khaled Sabsabi premieres as part of the Marrakech Biennale, which opens tomorrow and runs until 31 March 2014. The video work considers the complex position of religion and spirituality in the digital age. The title of the work refers to the Prophet Mohammed's teachings that 70,000 veils of light and darkness separate the individual from the divine. Read more.

The Australia Council has commissoned Khaled Sabsabi to participate in a new artistic project entitled 24 Frames Per Second. This initiative will culminate in a major exhibition at Carriageworks in 2015 which will tour internationally. Other artists include Tony Albert (Brisbane), Nick Cave (USA) and Ming Wong (Singapore).
